I was running the Perdana till the tires were balding. I will post a non bias, neutral review on all the tires I've used in sequence along with my personal scale of 1 to 10 to help you guys in making up your choice.

These were the very first set of tires I've used ever since I got the car and upgraded to 17inch. Pricey, but at that time I was running on 7jj and used their 215/45/17 series.
These were one of the best overall tires I've used. Sadly, they lasted only about 20,000km. These tires cornered in the dry as if the car was on rails! It performed equally as good in the wets and sliced through standing water effortlessly! Also one of the quietest tires I've used. I think the treadwear rating was 300, AA and temperature A. Worth getting this if you are running 17inch above as they do not make anything lower than this. Pretty soft compound with stiff sidewalls. Car slides abit in the wet on straights when it is down to 20% tread. It launched pretty well without breaking much traction. Threshold braking was also not bad.

Nitto Invo
I got a slightly larger size for this, 225/45/17. They also lasted about 20,000km. These tires looked "digital" or somewhat like Tamiya tires. Tire shop asked me to give these a try and no doubt they performed identical to the Eagle F1A2. But just a little better, probably because it was 225 and not 215 in width. Treadwear was somewhere between 240 and 280. The car started sliding in both dry and wet on straights when it was also down to 10% thread. One of the tires started hopping at 60% thread and Nitto issued a refund without any hesitation. Good aftersales. These tires are brought in by Toyo. I believe this is quieter than the F1A2 abit although is was a tad wider. Launching and threshold braking was pretty much similar as the above F1A2 too.

I paid quite alot for this. Didn't have a chance to test it out much though as I swapped tires when I got down to JB just for the fun of it. These tires we freaking wide, 235/45/17 all around. I gave this a try because it claimed to do 2:40 in Sepang with a bone stock Honda Civic Type-R (FD2R). Man, these tires were super grippy yet sticky. I was told not to speed in the rain but somehow never had any issues. These tires are summer tires, in the semi slick category. These tires wore out pretty fast though. Treadwear was about 140-180. It cornered decently in the rain too. However, I could feel the car sliding off abit eventhough with 50% thread in the wet straights and on standing water. I was told that these tires are gonna be pretty noisy, but 7k has been spent on the Perdana for soundproofing and I can only benchmark these with the Invos. High freuency humming could be heard, but not too bad. I didn't have the chance to brake hard on these tires in the wet. One of the best gripping tires I have ever used. If you have money and don't mind the slight tire noise, this would be the tire for you.

225/24/17 I had alot of good reviews on these tires and found a used set of four from Singapore because it's hard to come across them in Malaysia. The grip was somewhere between the Eagle f1 and RS3 and wasn't all noisy. It handled pretty well in both wet and dry straights and corners and launced pretty decently. Very very stiff sidewalls, need to play with a bit of tire pressure on this. These tires wore out slightly faster than the F1A2. I could still brake hard in the wets.
It launched as good as the RS3 too! Now, these tires are pretty fucking expensive too. Treadwear was about 180. If you can find a used set for these, go ahead.

225/45/17. Currently have one pair of this on the rear of the Perdana. Aggresive thread design. I believe these are a tad noisier compare to all the other above tires but not as noisy as the RS3. It performs perfectly in the wet and this can be compared with the F1A2. Braking and cornering was also decent in both wet and dry and I would put this in the same category as the F1A2, UHP Tire. I can't tell how fast these tires are wearing out but it's pretty slow. These tires are on the rear of the car though. And apart from that, the sidewalls are as stiff as the RE11.

DM*CK Kinetic S Tires
225/45/17 These tires have nothing but negativity. I know that we get what we paid for, but this is shit. fucking piece of shit. Bag of shit, Bag of death. Or whatever shit you call it. Half the price of a UHP, probably the price you pay for a 15inch UHP. I bought these tires, went out of the shop. Found out that the tires were shaking like fuck and went back to the tire shop. I was accused by an incompetent worker that my rims were bent and I gave him an indication that he deserves nothing but my middle finger. Another tireman attended to me and verified that the tires were hopping, REFUSED A REPLACEMENT and tried to do an on-wheel balancing on the Perdana. And on top of that, he told me to leave and said "if the vibration still persists, change your driveshafts". Little did he know my qualifications and the number of sets of driveshafts I have replaced. I am not stupid.
I went to their HQ and they granted me with a replacement, and came out that the replacement was also hopping. They, too, insisted on doing an on-wheel balancing. Went test, failed, vibration. They blamed my lower arms(which i admit was giving way). As far as I'm concerned? Arms dont cause rotational vibrations on high speeds. I gave up, I will replace these tires in three months as I cover 5,000km a month. Who in the world would manufacture tires that are not round?
These tires, they lock too soon, in both wet and dry. The dry grip is not up to my liking and it is totally hopeless in the wet. I would understeer in both conditions at my normal driving phase and can actually compare this with s*me Tires. I almost crashed when a container trailer came cutting into my lane, I brought it down to threshold braking where the tires were half locking for a full 5 seconds. I almost crashed into the toll barricade when the tires locked unexpectedly when it was raining. It was either I let the brakes go, regain my grip and pray that the barrier opens, or continue braking and locking the tires letting the car hover to the left and crash. I was fortunate as the barrier opened. Apart from that, I can feel the car wobblling and sliding badly upon changing lanes in the wet, on the white lines. I did a launch too, and it didn't hold in neither first nor second gear. Tire noise isn't too bad though. Now I am not comparing these with good summer tires nor semi slick tires, not comparing an apple to an orange, but my personal scale of tire rating. These tires are crap. They take quite some time to wear out though. Probably because of it's hard compound.
These tires are still so-so for standing water situations though, probably due to the super wide grooves. However, I noticed that I can see right through the tires from the front if the car is parked at an elevated angle, which means... wider grooves means way less contact area. I did a simple calculation after taking measurements and came to the conclusion that the contact partch/point was only of a 185/195width tire.
These tires are made in China. If you can not buy them, don't buy them, at all cost. I cannot imagine tires that are not round, similar to a bent Iphone 6+. Fuck this shit. Forgive my language but, fuck it.

Perdana, Foamed!
Hi Guys,
Sorry I haven't been updating on the Perdana for quite some time. Been tied up with work and have not been able to do any writing at all. A lot has been done to the car, from Projectors, coilovers, engine rebuild, tubocharging, etc. I will write about it when I have the time to.
As for today, Chris Lua of the PREVOC club told me that someone came out from a famous chassis foaming shop in KL and started off his own business. I was surprised. I contacted Welgan and promised him a write-up as the car was foamed up yesterday as it brought back memories of when the Charade was foamed four years back.
Most of you all should already know what chassis foaming is and I should not elaborate further.
I chose him to work on my car as I strongly believe he uses the very same material as where he used to work at. There are may other shops out there doing the same thing for a much cheaper price but some of the materials being sold in the market disintegrates, absorbs water or simply isn't fire retardant. This guy, Welgan, is still cheaper than his former workplace though. Because of where he was from, because he worked on my car before, because I knew him, I chose him.
For the package? I took one of his highest package, that is track package, where every, and I mean EVERY hollow part of the car gets a dose of foam.
I will elaborate the process along with pictures as per below :
I arrived around 3pm. Set an appointment in advanced.
His place wasn't hard to find via Waze. Furthermore, it was just beside the MRR2.

Before foaming
All necessary parts were removed carefully, along with his one and only employee.
You must be wondering, why are there tupperwares?
Here, you'll see that the Perdana is already heavily soundproofed.
Now, you see why. All items removed from the car are put into containers. A very simple yet efficient mindset. You take them out, put them in the container. And when you're done with your job, everything that comes out from the container goes back into the car. No missing parts, no missing screws. Well disciplined.
Welgan does the work himself. It's his shop, his money, his hands, his profit. So, you know that he does it good in order to build his reputation.
All the sample materials to be put into the car. Equally as odorless, light and fire retardant.
He does tinting too! I didn't ask fr pricing though.
He has an upright tidy office table, which you seldom see in workshops or accessory shops these days.
They jacked the car up to work on the frontal subframes. Containers, containers everywhere!
Everything removed. Seats, panels, etc.
They will all be masked off to prevent most of the foam from overflowing and super efficient filling.
Both my 4channel amp and monoblock were also removed in the process as he had to gain access into my seat rails. Note that he taped all wires to prevent any shorting. Tidy much.
In the process of foaming, whatever that flows out from the undercarriage after expanding.
Another sample of the material picked up from under the car. I'd say this will last.
C-pillar was also done. This prevents tire noise and exhaust echo from entering the cockpit. These sounds travel fucking everywhere and amplifies in the hollow sections of the car.
Door sills were also foamed up to increase rigidity.
Seat rails as well. Notice the soundproofing done by Howie of EA Autoworks.
Front passenger side. There was a waster leakage from the aircond system that caused the mess.

The top area of the A,B and C Pillar was also foamed up. The charade left this out for whatever reason. Welgan took the intiative to foam this area up.
Now, this is one of the most important pictures of this post. He cleans the car up thoroughly after all job is done, not a single speck of dirt on my leather seats or pillars after all job was completed. I am a very fussy person when it comes to job cleanliness as I believe a clean workshop will have a clean reputation.
The entire process took approximate five hours. I left the place after an hour of being there. Welgan was kind enough to offer me his car but I told him I rather take a cab. I took Uber Taxi to Wangsa Walk and it costed me only RM7.00. They came fetching me a Teana, dayum.
I arrived back at Welgan's place at about 7pm to observe his job completion and closure and it was up to my expectation. Cab back via normal taxi was RM6.00.
I left the place and immediately noticed that my 3inch straight muffler(no midbox) was a tone softer. This was proven when I could listen to Celine Dion at a softer volume.
By the way, I also told him that my subwoofer was not as punchy before and he repaired the broken wire terminal port that was behind the subwoofer without charging a single cent out of goodwill.
The other results were expected, having experienced this before; the car felt firmer and solid, and you don't get as much rattle noise as you used to anymore.
Welgan was the LAST person that I thought would leave his previous workplace to open his new centre. It seems that I was wrong. Man, I cannot say that he is a man with few words, but this dude is a man with NO words. He works, he doesn't talk. I like. However, he needs to boost his self confidence and rely heavily on online advertising due to the remote location of his shop.
I'd give two thumbs up to him as I would say that his job quality is still as good as ever, compared to when he did my Charade four years back.

Shenzo, the new big player in the market!
GUYS GUYS GUYS!! Sorry I've been away, away for way too long.
This is the first post of 2014. I've been busy with work and busy with finding better products to sell. One that's beneficial for your engines. I present you as per below,
Shenzo Oils!
A few FAQs as per below will answer your questions :
1. Why Shenzo? Why did you pick this on top of other oils?
- I have known this particular supplier for many years and always had faith in products he chose to distribute. I heard of this oil circling the market for quite some time and didn't know he was the one selling it as we don't meet up often. The moment I found out he was the one supplying this, I was eager to find out more, on WHY he chose this and not other oils.
2. Would you classify this oil as a good oil in your personal automotive dictionary and why?
- YES. This oil is made and blended in Japan. Japanese base oils. Bear in mind that our sensitive little engines are not in favor of oils that are from the depths of the middle eastern deserts. They are high in salt and sulfur which is a big no-no for our engine. The Japanese and German oils are from undersea, which is much refined in terms of purity. Even our local Pet***** oils are from the middle east. They get good oils locally off the South China Sea but sell them off and buy back cheapo oils for processing all for the sake of money.
3. How is this going to work in my engine?
- Oils have 3 main purpose. Luricate, cool, protect. However, on top of it's good base oil, Shenzo uses the very best additives and blends to ensure this oil performs and protects well when used long term. This includes close to zero evaporation of engine oil during high revving and hot weather. Some customers tend to lose oil over time eventhough their piston ring tolerances are tight.
4. API SN you say? Most or every oil now has that.
- Most claim to have them, or at least SM. You all may not know what it is, but it's a donut looking logo that's on the front of the bottle written API SN. Kindly note that a lot of companies are abusing this logo and you can do a search for each and every of the oil's company name on the API website. More info on API Licensing also can be found here.

It isn't at all cheap to get API licensing and endorsement. An oil may say "Exceeds API SM specifications" but it does not mean that it has the certification. Below are years where specifications were established setting new benchmarks on tests :
SG = 1993 formula
SH = 1996 formula
SJ = 1997 formula
SL = 2001 formula
SM = 2004 formula
SN = 2011 formula (SHENZO racing oil)
5. Why should I use SN and not SL or SM or anything earlier?
- Well, if you have an old car, not an issue. But if you have a real new car, requiring specific engine oils, be aware. In comparison, the SN formula is more refined technologically. Better blends, better additives, better antifriction properties, better cooling agents, etc. Take an Audi, VW or BMW for example. These engines are made with tighter tolerances, smaller oil channels and are more compact to the 90s engine of the same capacity. You want your oil to reach out to the engine engine's bearings and journals faster or as fast as possible without risking damage on startup and the SN oils are capable of doing so. On top of that, these engines also tend to lose engine oil over time. The latest shenzo oil are designed not to evaporate as fast as their competitors oils.
6. Can I race with Shenzo Oil?
- Yes. In fact, a few of the MME and S1K guys in Sepang were using this oil and the oil loss rate is half as slow as compared to competitor's oils. Temperature was pretty stable too.
7. So many grades available, what should I use?
- We do have various grades as per below :
The smaller and also newer engines can run on the 5w30 Infinity series. The oil is pretty thin, but still retains its viscosity and does not break down under extreme heat. The thicker grades like 15w40 and 10w40 can be used on moderately aged vehicles and turbo engines. As for the 20w50, this will be specifically for old dinosaur-aged vehicles that are losing oil not through evaporation, but compression loss.
I am well trained to pick a suitable oil for your engine and you can ask me anytime.
8. The above says Resource Conserving GF-5, what does this mean?
- These oils are so-called energy saving oils. Also licensed under API, only on 30grade. This is known as the Starburst Logo. There are a minority of oil companies abusing these logos and slapping them onto their 40grade oils. These oils on tests are proven to save fuel due to good kinetic viscosity on certain temperatures.
9. You sure you got API license?
- Yes. In fact, you can actually ask ANY oil company to show you their certs. Challenge them and see if they can produce one.
10. What kind of oil change interval do you recommend?
- I would recommend 10k intervals on these oils. My 5w30 and 5w40 states 15000km. The OCI for these oils are stated by API themselves and not based on assumptions. However, I would recommend to just stick to 10,000km as we don't really have american fuel or clean american air lol.
11. You got 5l package?
All Shenzo oils are sold in 4litre package.
12. They say different package, different blends. Like those of S**** and Cas**** you find in hypermarket got different blends than the one selling in sparepart shop. What about Shenzo?
- True that. Different country have different budgets, ambient temperature, fuel, climate, and conditions. They request that oil companies put in either the best available blends or cheaper blends based on both budget and the said conditions. Problem in the oil market is that there are a lot cross border sales resulting in oils of different blends reaching end users without their knowledge. Shenzo will be the very first in the world, and is in the midst of putting serial numbers on their containers to track down which blend goes where as each oil is specifically and carefully blended to suit each and every country's conditions ensuring the best for end users.
13. Most oils in the market are sold 5w30 and 5w40 as fully synthetics, 10w30 10w40 as semi synthetics, 15w40 and 20w50 as minerals. What about Shenzo?
- All Shenzo oils are fully synthetics, regardless of the amount of polymers put in to stretch its viscosity over temperatures.
14. Are we supposed to care about 5w 10w and 15w?
Generally, in our weather, not necessarily. However, the cold viscosity does affect OUR(climate) cold start, but only to a certain extent. Hence, when you shake a brand new 5w40 and a 10w40, the 5w40 feels thinner. The 10w40 has got more base oil and less additives compared to a 5w40.

This is the first post of 2014. I've been busy with work and busy with finding better products to sell. One that's beneficial for your engines. I present you as per below,
Shenzo Oils!
A few FAQs as per below will answer your questions :
1. Why Shenzo? Why did you pick this on top of other oils?
- I have known this particular supplier for many years and always had faith in products he chose to distribute. I heard of this oil circling the market for quite some time and didn't know he was the one selling it as we don't meet up often. The moment I found out he was the one supplying this, I was eager to find out more, on WHY he chose this and not other oils.
2. Would you classify this oil as a good oil in your personal automotive dictionary and why?
- YES. This oil is made and blended in Japan. Japanese base oils. Bear in mind that our sensitive little engines are not in favor of oils that are from the depths of the middle eastern deserts. They are high in salt and sulfur which is a big no-no for our engine. The Japanese and German oils are from undersea, which is much refined in terms of purity. Even our local Pet***** oils are from the middle east. They get good oils locally off the South China Sea but sell them off and buy back cheapo oils for processing all for the sake of money.
3. How is this going to work in my engine?
- Oils have 3 main purpose. Luricate, cool, protect. However, on top of it's good base oil, Shenzo uses the very best additives and blends to ensure this oil performs and protects well when used long term. This includes close to zero evaporation of engine oil during high revving and hot weather. Some customers tend to lose oil over time eventhough their piston ring tolerances are tight.
4. API SN you say? Most or every oil now has that.
- Most claim to have them, or at least SM. You all may not know what it is, but it's a donut looking logo that's on the front of the bottle written API SN. Kindly note that a lot of companies are abusing this logo and you can do a search for each and every of the oil's company name on the API website. More info on API Licensing also can be found here.

It isn't at all cheap to get API licensing and endorsement. An oil may say "Exceeds API SM specifications" but it does not mean that it has the certification. Below are years where specifications were established setting new benchmarks on tests :
SG = 1993 formula
SH = 1996 formula
SJ = 1997 formula
SL = 2001 formula
SM = 2004 formula
SN = 2011 formula (SHENZO racing oil)
5. Why should I use SN and not SL or SM or anything earlier?
- Well, if you have an old car, not an issue. But if you have a real new car, requiring specific engine oils, be aware. In comparison, the SN formula is more refined technologically. Better blends, better additives, better antifriction properties, better cooling agents, etc. Take an Audi, VW or BMW for example. These engines are made with tighter tolerances, smaller oil channels and are more compact to the 90s engine of the same capacity. You want your oil to reach out to the engine engine's bearings and journals faster or as fast as possible without risking damage on startup and the SN oils are capable of doing so. On top of that, these engines also tend to lose engine oil over time. The latest shenzo oil are designed not to evaporate as fast as their competitors oils.
6. Can I race with Shenzo Oil?
- Yes. In fact, a few of the MME and S1K guys in Sepang were using this oil and the oil loss rate is half as slow as compared to competitor's oils. Temperature was pretty stable too.
7. So many grades available, what should I use?
- We do have various grades as per below :

The smaller and also newer engines can run on the 5w30 Infinity series. The oil is pretty thin, but still retains its viscosity and does not break down under extreme heat. The thicker grades like 15w40 and 10w40 can be used on moderately aged vehicles and turbo engines. As for the 20w50, this will be specifically for old dinosaur-aged vehicles that are losing oil not through evaporation, but compression loss.

8. The above says Resource Conserving GF-5, what does this mean?
- These oils are so-called energy saving oils. Also licensed under API, only on 30grade. This is known as the Starburst Logo. There are a minority of oil companies abusing these logos and slapping them onto their 40grade oils. These oils on tests are proven to save fuel due to good kinetic viscosity on certain temperatures.
9. You sure you got API license?
- Yes. In fact, you can actually ask ANY oil company to show you their certs. Challenge them and see if they can produce one.
10. What kind of oil change interval do you recommend?
- I would recommend 10k intervals on these oils. My 5w30 and 5w40 states 15000km. The OCI for these oils are stated by API themselves and not based on assumptions. However, I would recommend to just stick to 10,000km as we don't really have american fuel or clean american air lol.
11. You got 5l package?
All Shenzo oils are sold in 4litre package.
12. They say different package, different blends. Like those of S**** and Cas**** you find in hypermarket got different blends than the one selling in sparepart shop. What about Shenzo?
- True that. Different country have different budgets, ambient temperature, fuel, climate, and conditions. They request that oil companies put in either the best available blends or cheaper blends based on both budget and the said conditions. Problem in the oil market is that there are a lot cross border sales resulting in oils of different blends reaching end users without their knowledge. Shenzo will be the very first in the world, and is in the midst of putting serial numbers on their containers to track down which blend goes where as each oil is specifically and carefully blended to suit each and every country's conditions ensuring the best for end users.
13. Most oils in the market are sold 5w30 and 5w40 as fully synthetics, 10w30 10w40 as semi synthetics, 15w40 and 20w50 as minerals. What about Shenzo?
- All Shenzo oils are fully synthetics, regardless of the amount of polymers put in to stretch its viscosity over temperatures.
14. Are we supposed to care about 5w 10w and 15w?
Generally, in our weather, not necessarily. However, the cold viscosity does affect OUR(climate) cold start, but only to a certain extent. Hence, when you shake a brand new 5w40 and a 10w40, the 5w40 feels thinner. The 10w40 has got more base oil and less additives compared to a 5w40.
